About Us

We can't wait to meet you!
In the meantime, here is a (consolidated!) history of us.

With origins in the San Francisco bay area, Dylan Carney Photography has deep roots in rock concert photography. Now located on Florida's beautiful Emerald Coast, DCP has expanded into many genres including family beach photography, wedding photography, fashion & lifestyle photography, dance photography and architectural photography. Dylan Carney Photography is based out of Destin, Florida serving the Panhandle and beyond.

Dylan Carney, owner and photographer, was born and raised in the Northern California town of Petaluma, located about 45 minutes north of San Francisco. While a student of the arts throughout his entire life, Dylan's career as a professional photographer began in 2010 when he was hired as the Staff Photographer and Social Media Manager for Furthur - a touring rock band formed by founding members of The Grateful Dead: Bob Weir and Phil Lesh. During this time, Dylan perfected his art of working in a fast pace, high-stress and loud environment, while always maintaining an eye for being in the right spot at the right time to capture important moments. Dylan has worked with and photographed many rock legends including Elvis Costello, Levon Helm, Warren Haynes, John Scofield, Jimmy Cliff, Mike Gordon and many others. He has also photographed some of the most iconic American venues such as Madison Square Garden, Red Rocks, Radio City Music Hall, The Fillmore and The Fox Theatre (Oakland, Atlanta, St. Louis). Dylan's workflow and editing style is unparalleled.

Rachel Prescott assists in wedding photography as well as fashion, lifestyle and editorial photo shoots as the wardrobe stylist and/or creative director. She was born and raised in Destin, Florida, attended Saint Mary's School and later Northwest Florida State College as a dual-enrolled high-school student. Rachel was a Northwest Florida Ballet company member under the instruction of Ballet Mistress Dorthy Lister: former principle ballerina with the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. She has preformed in various productions such as The Nutcracker, Giselle, Coppelia, La Sylphide, Cinderella, Don Quixote, Dracula and many more.
In 2006, at the age of 17, Rachel attended and won a model search at the Sandestin Marketplace hosted by Elite Model Management. Rachel was exclusively signed with Elite Model Management and moved to New York City to pursue her career in modeling. Her editorial work has been published in - and on the covers of - many national and international magazines including Harper's Bazaar, Glamour Magazine, Lucky Magazine, CosmoGirl Magazine, Brides Magazine, Martha Stewart Weddings and American Salon Magazine. Rachel later moved to Los Angeles, California where she lived and worked for many commercial clients including Macy's, Levi's, Gap, Old Navy, Piperlime and Charlotte Russe. She has appeared in principle roles for multiple national television commercials such as JCPenny and Chrysler.

In 2015, after years of living and working on the west coast, Dylan and Rachel relocated to Destin in preparation for the birth of their first child, Beatrice Rosalie. When they aren't shooting, editing or location-scouting, Dylan and Rachel love to spend time with Bea on the beach or at the park, gardening or DIY-ing, listening to some favorite tunes or dancing to favorite musicals!
